Walking: Kaperløypa - "pirate trail" in Leka

The Kaper Trail is a marked round-trip. The trail is named after a
special event in the 18th century. On the night of February 17th, 1798,
a French ship with 230 men on board sank by Gutviklandet. Most
got ashore. A “kaper” ship had permission from its native country to
commit piracy against ships from enemy nations. Two cannons have
been retrieved from the wreck. These are displayed at Leka rural
museum. There is a memorial plaque at Raudhammeren. Trail in
varied terrain with forest, marshland, rock-face, and beaches.
Sheep in the area, please show consideration.
