Skei Cultural Landscape

Skei is one of 22 selected cultural landscapes in Norway which has received special status because of its unique bological and cultural heritage value.

The area around Skeisnesset is in part made up of the critically threatened coastal heathlands, cultural monuments from the viking age (Herlaug burial mound), ancient stone fences and evidence of ancient houses and dwellings. Leka Rural Museum is a part of the area, and there is a cultural path around Skeisnesset.

There is also a bird reserve with oceanic birds and wetland birds at Skei.
