Hiking/Cycling: Øyvatnet round trip

It is possible to walk, cycle or push a stroller along lake Øyvatnet. The round trip follows a gravel road along the lake, until it merges with Fv17 again on the northern side of the lake. There is a bicycle path along Fiskåa river between Hognes and Øielandet, where you can cross the river. In summertime there are horses grazing in Bjøllia, and by Øyvatnet nature reserve you can observe birds in the wetland area. For traffic safety we recommend that families with children avoid cycling on Fv17. Feel free to spend extra time at the scenic Svortstranda beach. The entire round trip is 20 km, but you can walk just parts of the trip and still have a lovely experience.

DIRECTIONS:
Drive the Coastal Route Fv17 to Flått, north of Høylandet centre. Turn left and follow Hognesvegen northwards. After 750 m, park by camping site.
