Experience beautiful art right in the centre of Namsos.
The Art Museum of Nord-Trøndelag is situated in Kulturhuset, the main culture centre in downtown Namsos. This is a wonderful museum featuring glass walls from floor to ceiling, skylights and an art shop in the exhibition area. The museum space may be adapted for various exhibitions and art forms. The museum displays contemporary art and exhibitions from the permanent collection, which consists of approximately 2000 works of art covering various techniques including painting, graphics, textiles, photography, sculpture, handicraft and installation. Admission is free.
In 2013, the art museum, which was opened in 1988 as the Nord-Trøndelag County Gallery, celebrated its 25th anniversary. The new entrance featuring glass walls from floor to ceiling was added in 2014. RianGalleriet is opening a special room at the museum devoted to the Norwegian painter Johannes Rian (1891 – 1981). The local art society, Namsos Kunstforening, displays the annual Namdal scholarship exhibition in the museum’s exhibition room.
A free workshop for children is arranged in the museum’s art studio on the first Sunday of the month (excluding school holidays)
