There are many marked trails, walks and hikes in Namdalen. Here you will find information about five beautiful hikes and walks, close to Namsos city center. These five hikes close to Namsos all offer good views, but requires no or minimal transport from the city.

Bjørumsklompen (114 masl.)

Bjørmunslumpen, usually just called Klompen, is the city-mountain of Namsos. There are several different trails from Namsos centre to the top, most of which take 20-30 minutes. It is also possible to drive to the top in summer. Rockestien (The Rock Trail) starts at Scandic Rock City and is marked with signs. At the top of Klompen is Klompen Pavilion, a great viewpoint with the best view of the city. Read more about the walk and view the map here.

Svartfjellet (245 masl.)

Bymarkas Venner is the association that marks and maps out the nearby outdoors area of Namsos. One of the most visited mountains in the aree is Svartfjellet. There are several possible trails to the top, but the most common starts at Klompen Kunstgress fotball field, in the Prestegårdsstien street. Park by the football field and follow the gravel path to the left of the field. There are posters with maps of the area along the trail. The walk to the topt akes approximately 1 hour.

Dummolfjellet (445 masl.)

Dummolfjellet, known among locals as Spillumsfjellet, is a nice hike on gravel road/ service road. Drive from Namsos towards Spillum on Rv17 from. Turn left into a dirt road (second exit after roundabout, before Skistadion) and drive towards the farm at Tungramoen. The exit can be somewhat difficult to spot. Park at the private farm, pay 10,- NOK cash in parking fee. The hike takes you to 445 masl, and is approximately 9,5 km return. On the way you will pass Spillumsvatnet where there is a lovely campfire area. Read more about the walk and view the map here.

Spillumsaksla (251 masl)

The hike to Spillumsaksla begins at the same place as Dummolsfjellet. Drive from Namsos towards Spillum on Rv17 from. Turn left into a dirt road (second exit after roundabout, before Skistadion) and drive towards the farm at Tungramoen. The exit can be somewhat difficult to spot. Park at the private farm, pay 10,- NOK cash in parking fee. Walk on the gravel road for a while, then turn left at the sign for “Spillumsaksla”. Vattafjellet (240 masl.)

Vattafjellet is a beautiful hike, suitable for the whole family. The walk is approx. 3km return, and the top is 240 masl with a nice view of the coast.  Drive west from Namsos center on Fv459 for approx. 1,5 km, then turn left at the sign for Vestbyen Skole. Park by the school. To the right of the school there is a red marking where the trail starts. Follow the path and turn right when the path meets a gravelled path and divides. You can also walk from Namsos center and Scandic Rock City. Walk on the sidewalk towards the school and start the hike there. Please note that some areas of this trip may be wet, and good shoes are required.
